Client player location off in Shared AR VPS and Image Tracking samples

Include the following details while filing a bug report (edit as applicable):

  • Issue category: Sample App ‘Shared AR VPS and Shared AR Image Tracking’
  • Device type & OS version: Android / iOS
  • Host machine & OS version: Windows
  • Issue Environment : Unity Editor / Android / iOS
  • Xcode version: N/A
  • ARDK version: 3.10
  • Unity version: 2022.3.52f1

Bug reproduction steps:
I cloned the ardk-samples repository and build the Shared AR VPS and Image Tracking samples for both Android and iOS. I made no changes to the code, other than changing the API key and setting build settings. It looks like for both samples the client player marker is ‘off’. It seems to be transformed in some way such that it appears a few feet away from where the client device actually is. I’m not sure if there’s some issue with the transform? I’m trying to debug now. I also recreated the issue in the Editor using Playback with the Gandhi monument provided recordings. I’m getting the issue in the Editor as well. Everything is tracking fine, but the client player is not appearing in the correct spot on the host. I’ve paused the playback at a location where the client player should be clearly in view of the host and confirmed that the client is outside the camera view in the Scene window.

Update: I just tried out the Emoji Garden sample in the Editor with playback at the Gandhi monument, and it does appear that player locations are correct. I’m not sure what Emoji Garden is doing differently (if anything).

Hi Liam,

Thanks for reaching out. I’ll test this out as soon as possible and reach back out once I have.

I just pulled a fresh copy of the repo and tried again. In the Editor with playback, it looks like player positions are being reflected correctly. I must have changed something during the process of building to devices. I think this was a false alarm. Sorry about that!

No worries, I’m glad it ended up working! If it happens again over the next few days, let me know. If it happens again after some time, though (weeks or months), I’d recommend opening up a new topic.
