Unable to open Geospatial Browser QR / Activate Dev mode in Scaniverse

Include the following details while filing a bug report (edit as applicable):

  • Issue category: Developer Tools / VPS
  • Device type & OS version: Android 12 (MIUI Global 12 on Redmi Note 9 Pro)
  • Issue Environment : Scaniverse App (Version 1.0.1)

Bug reproduction steps:

The QR Code simply doesn’t open Scaniverse on Android and there is no way to force QR code activation from within the app.

  • Open “Geospatial Browser” on Desktop PC
  • choose a VPS location > View Details
  • scan QR code on Android device (with Scaniverse installed)
  • the browser opens with URL like https://scaniverse.com/developer?developer=lightship&urlTemplate=...

I’ve tried both the built-in “Scanner” app and binaryEye for scannig the QR code, and I’ve tried pasting the URL contained in the QR code into both firefox or chrome on the phone. The browsers are both configured to open deeplinks in apps automatically, but the scaniverse app is never triggered.

It seems deep-linking is not correctly configured for either the scaniverse.com site or the Scaniverse android App. The developer mode is therefore completely inaccessible.

In fact it seems that there is no intent filter for ACTION_VIEW, which would enable deep-linking in android:

Hello! Could you try to update the app? Additionally, could you clarify how you scanned the QR code? Did you just use the device camera?

Hey, I updated the app (android now says version 4.0.0) and the QR code scanning app now directly launches Scaniverse and the geospatial browser login page as expected

Thank you for the update; that is wonderful to hear! If you have any further issues, I can continue to assist. Alternatively, if you come across different issues along the way, you could reach out to us again.
