Hi Aurora,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with the Wayfarer app! Wayfarer depends on something called ARCore below the hood which does have some device and/or Android OS requirements. In order to assist you further, I’ll need to know what specific tablet you have and what Android version you’re running. If you’re unsure of either of those and want to double check, you can go to your Settings and select “About tablet.” The about option will be towards the bottom of the list.

Kind regards,
Maverick L.

Thanks Maverick. Then the tablet it:

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9Plus.

You’re welcome! Great news! Your tablet is supported, so the next step is to ensure your depth sensor is working properly. First, double check the back of your device to make sure the cameras and the sensors are clear of dust and debris. These parts are really delicate so I would recommend using compressed air or simply blowing any debris off your device. Next, open up your web browser and do a Google search for your favorite animal. Scroll down and select the “View in 3D” option, double check it’s in AR mode, and follow the on-screen instructions. Do you see a camera feed? Is your camera feed clear of any artifacts? Try dragging the animal around your space with your fingers. Is it moving around properly? Try resizing the animal by pinching the screen. Is the animal changing size? If you’ve answered no to any of these questions you most likely have a damaged or defective depth sensor.

If you determine the sensor is damaged, your best bet is to take your device to an authorized Samsung repair shop or contact Samsung directly to inquire about a repair.

If all is well, a device restart and reinstall of Wayfarer may resolve the issue.

Best,
Maverick L.
